Digital 2003 - Statement
block6x578-1wL-01bF is a layout image for a small painting on wood 6h" x 5-7/8w" x 1-1/2d".At Mid year 2002 I unlocked a tactic to use digital imaging for and with my daily studio industry. I used a computer to analyze digital camera images of paintings in progress. This process permitted me to practice a variety of painting solutions before actually applying paint. This procedure satisfied my wishes to "not waste my time" in the studio waiting to see if an idea to change a painting really worked; an exercise in eliminating impatience.

Digital 2003 - Statement TwoIn addition to the ideas relating to the use of digital camera, image software and attaching this industry to my practice of painting, 2003 was also a time of exploring ways to reduce the business in my painting. I think that this kind of searching and researching comes out of boredom in a way. For me repetitive work is boring regardless of where it is performed.
Also this suite of digital images are interpretations of my research into minimalism and reductive 2-d and 3-d philosophy. This research continues.dpn1/27/04 1:21 pm
